    Hi, great tutorial! I’m just curious on how do you make the themes/layout for multiply? Do you use programs like photoshop or websites like pimp-my-profile? Thanks!

  • 2. simplyjacy  |  January 27th, 2008 at 3:31 pm

    In making themes and layout, you use photoshop to deal with the images that you want to use as your banner, footer or background. To put them all together and have it work as a theme, you deal with CSS (Cascading Style Sheets).

    We will be posting tutorials on how to make your own themes in the future.

    to change the font size of the Title Box, you need to add this string:

    font-size: 16px; (or any value you like)

    at this part of the CSS code:
    .itemboxsub {

    Vivian,
    there are other tutorials that can be found in the Tutorial section. There was even a video tutorial on how to make a banner with your personal photo by Henry Reyes. you should check it out.

    once you have made an banner image or background image, use the “your Page and CSS” tutorial to know which codes you need to put it.

    Hi, i’m new in dealing with CSS and i came accross this from the mykonomos base code:

    .railbody iframe {
    margin-left: 0px;
    }

    This is where the google ad is placed.
    I have a question, can i delete the google ads?

    Thanks :)

  • 8. admin  |  May 4th, 2008 at 3:37 am

    Multiply uses google ads to generate income while staying free for us users to use their services. It is a violation of their policy to remove, edit or conceal these ads. Doing so might put you in the risk of losing your account.

    Although codes for manipulating these ads exist, we don’t advise you to use it.

    i’m having problems with my multiply site. the only edit-able parts under “customize my site” are my heading and personal photo parts. :(

  • 15. marckiey19  |  November 6th, 2008 at 11:48 pm

    i made my own layout, but i want to change the icons that appear in my boxes… such as the welcome, photos, blog… you know what i mean right??

  • 16. simplyjacy  |  November 7th, 2008 at 12:52 am

    hi marky!

    compliments on your site. it’s looking good!

    to remove those icons, you can add this code in your CSS:
    /* remove the default icons */
    .itemboxsub .icon img {
    display: none;
    }

    if you want to replace it with your own, you can use the above code and then call out the image using the html: <img src=”urlofimage”>
    paste it when you click on Edit on each itemboxes.

    there used to be a way to control this using CSS but when i tried it tonight, it doesn’t seem to work. i’ll let you know if i found a way.

    thanks for your tutorials..! i would just like to ask on how to turn my page private so the only people who can see my site are my contacts. I’ve been really trying to figure it out for myself. Thanks,. :)

  • 18. simplyjacy  |  December 5th, 2008 at 12:43 am

    Unfortunately, there is no way so far to make it at once. You have to edit post by post, and change the privacy (access) settings. If you want more control about who can see it and a few new options while composing/editing entries, turn on Advanced Posting in your settings (go to Posting Options):
    http://multiply.com/setup/advanced-posting

    In this page you can also set the default access (privacy) level of your next posts. If you post via email as well, you can change the default access level in this other page:
    http://multiply.com/setup/post-via-email

    You may want to do it to your account and profile (personal data) information too:
    settings –> My Account

    View Profile –> Edit Profile
